FAQs
Is it painful?
While we do use different topical numbing, there still may be some discomfort or pain as the numbing is starting to work. The numbing works best on open skin, so you will be more comfortable throughout the appointment.
Most clients fall asleep during brows. Eyeliner can feel ticklish against the lash line. You feel the pressure, but minimal pain. Lips are most sensitive on the outline and cupids bow area, but the shading in is bearable.
Are you still doing lashes/waxing?
I have decided to focus on tattooing and permanent makeup, so no longer offer body waxing or lashes. I offer brow waxing, tinting, and lamination.
What do I need to avoid before my appointment?
You cannot be pregnant or nursing while receiving a service.
Avoid alcohol and painkillers or blood-thinning medication 24 hours before your appointment. Tylenol is okay.
Avoid chemical/laser peels 6 weeks before appointment.
Avoid botox or filler on desired treatment area for 2 weeks before your appointment
AHA, BHAs, and retinoids should be avoided 2 weeks before appointment. These include Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid, Mandelic Acid, Malic Acid, Citric Acid, Tartaric Acid, Salicylic Acid, Vitamin A, and Retinols.
What are your Covid-19 protocols?
Masks are no longer required, however will be worn by artist upon request. The artist is fully vaccinated. We are still limiting the number of people in the studio, so guests are not allowed.
Can I bring my infant/child to the studio?
No children are allowed in the studio. There are sharp objects and to get the best service, distractions for both client and artist need to be limited.
What is a patch test?
While an allergic reaction to the tattoo pigment is unlikely, we can patch test for you to see how the pigment heals. This must be done 24-48 hours before your scheduled appointment. This can be waived as well. If you have been tinted or laminated before, the tint patch test can be waived. It is recommended to schedule a patch test for lamination and tinting 24 hours before your appointment. You can schedule a patch test here.
How do I know what brow style is right for me?
You can reach the artist over phone call or text, Instagram, Facebook, or email to discuss any questions you have. Outer Beauty also offers in-person design consultation so you can see the shape on your brows, as well as go over any questions. The consultation appointment cost will go towards your main appointment, and we can tweak anything you disliked with the original design. If you do not go forward, the in-person design consultation fee is non-refundable.
Is a touch up required?
Permanent makeup is a two-step process. Desired results can only be achieved with proper aftercare and touch up. We use the touch up to perfect the shape and color, as it is extremely common for permanent makeup to heal unevenly after the first session.
Is it permanent or semi-permanent?
Permanent makeup is a tattoo technique, so it is permanent. Some refer to it as semi-permanent because you do have to get touch-ups to perfect color and shape, however there will likely always be some remains of the brow tattoo unless you go through removal.
